Being an independent, rather than a mainstream optician, means that you are assured of continuity of care from one of our highly qualified Optometrists. We are passionate about providing a personal and professional service, taking time to listen and identify your specific needs and requirements. This ensures that you are confident your prescription or selected product is based on experience and impartial, appropriate advice.
We value our customers, covering the complete age spectrum, from babies to seniors and pride ourselves on being an independent, which allows us to offer a bespoke product tailored to your individual needs.
The clientele has been built on the quality of our customer service and in 2014, Lambrou Eye Studio in Locksbottom was taken over by Dorothy Lambrou, who continues to offer the original values and ethos of personal and first class customer service, in all aspects of the practice.
Optometry was Dorothy’s chosen speciality of medicine and she graduated from the University of Wales College, Cardiff in 1994 and qualified with BSc (Hons) in 1995. Subsequently, she trained at the highly regarded Institute of Optometry and she has supervised dispensing and contact lens opticians throughout her career.
This depth of experience has led to close working relationships with the Princess Royal University hospital (PRUH) and the PRUH’s ophthalmologists. Dorothy supports a wealth of advanced eye care services, holding the responsibility of looking after the patients via shared care. As Dorothy explains so succinctly:
I am fortunate that my career and passion have merged. I care about what I do, it’s not just about providing glasses or contact lenses, I provide a health care service and that is what my clients come to me for.
At Lambrou Eye Studio, we have embraced and incorporated the latest, innovative technology, whilst still using traditional techniques in certain circumstances, such as, to accurately prescribe and treat infants, who have not developed their communication skills.
We provide Eye Examinations, as well as Advanced Eye Care services, which only opticians who have continued to make the investment to hone prerequisite skills and have a depth of experience, which ensures the confidence and competence to offer this sophisticated level of personal care.

What to expect when visiting Lambrou Eye Studio in Locksbottom
The advantage of being an independent optician is the ability to be customer focused, rather than target driven, meeting your individual and very specific needs. This ensures a high level of customer satisfaction, reflected in an excellent reputation within the community and local General Practitioners.
On arrival, you are greeted at the front desk, followed by a consultation with Dorothy, which is focused on highlighting your areas of concern and identifying your precise prescription if needed. One of the main benefits is demonstrated in the smooth transition, from the issue of your prescription, to our dispensing optician.
A dispensing optician’s role is to accurately measure and fit a pair of glasses so that they are comfortable and suitable for everyday use as well as giving the correct advice to care for your glasses and help resolve any technical problems. A good example is with varifocals, there is a gradual change in the power of the lens and if the frames are not sitting in the right position on the face, it will affect how the lens performs. Consideration must be taken to ensure that the lens and frame combination to perform all visual tasks.
As the patient, you are fully involved in this process and the comprehensive introduction ensures a successful handover, with accurately relayed information. This is crucial and provides you with confidence that your specific needs are understood prior to the dispensing of spectacles or contact lenses.
Our dispensing optician’s experience is a perfect match for our practice, coming from a background of independent practices, they understand and deliver the consistently high standards of personal customer service on which we pride ourselves at Lambrou Eye Studio.
